Patrick Hanson, the undiscovered EUI blogger
Patrick Hanson, User Experience Designer, has a blog that isn't on the existing EUI blog list. According to Juan and Andy Patrick is the undisputed 'Grill Ninja', "Making the best burgers EVER" I've yet to enjoy Patrick's burgers, but I have been able to enjoy his blog. The default channel, is 'design', but take a look at the others, the links are in the top right. Patricks HI picks look incredible. if you're a designer, check it out, if you're not, check it out anyways, he'd do it for you! If you haven't checked out the blogs of the rest (translate)
Thoughts on my first days with Effective UI
Sitting here midway through day two, i gotta say, EUI (I had UM, there, oops, was talking about them, guess the initials stuck in my brain. UM is certainly a cool group too, but not my employer, LOL) is a pretty damn cool place. Coming in to say hi to the crew i already knew I never got a feel for the rest of the company. Dealing with Marketing for 360 Flex I knew them already through emails. Now they're my colleagues. The first thing that truly struck me is the size of EUI. I've known these guys for over (translate)

Flash Player 10: Late changes to the Sound API
Last week, I updated and rebuilt the Flex SDK from Subversion, and was pleasantly surprised to find that new players had been included in the repository. It was followed by disappointment that my pet project, which leans heavily on the new SAMPLE_DATA events in the Sound API stopped working. It turns out that in player 10,0,0,591, [...] (translate)
AS3 Component: NumberStepper
Download the code The one datatype that is common to all the disciplines in this project is Number so it makes sense to build a number modifier component. Although I'm specifically interested in entering and modifying dates I'm going to follow the component developers mantra and build a general component first. Once I have a simple [...] (translate)
Number 1 issue when trying to build an enterprise 2.0 apps: early stage user involvement
I don’t think People in larger organizations (maybe people in general) are use to the development processes of anything that could be considered ‘2.0’ so when they are participating in the early stages you need to be sensitive to that. The system my team is building is essentially an enterprise 2.0 application for the higher education business of co-operative education. It is like some odd form of dating. It can seem like students are pimping their skills to the highest bidder (employer) but it’s not just about money. For students money can talk but so does being able to find a (translate)
Using the Path Command in Flex 4 to Draw Shapes like Stars and Arrows
This Example and tag are pretty self-explanatory and can’t be explained much without looking at the code. All it does is you give it coordinates and it plots them. Example <Path data=”M 55 0 L 67 36 L 109 36 L 73 54 L 83 96 L 55 72 L 27 96 L 37 54 [...] (translate)

Via Moconews.net, Mobitween is acquired by Zed. “Zed says Java and Brew, on which most mobile games are built, “require significant resource to port each game or application to a growing number of mobile handsets” but that Flash Lite “will become a prevailing technology platform for games for handheld devices as it has established itself as [...] (translate)
Yahoo! Music API: Listen
The Yahoo! Music API is up and running. You can browse similar artists, gather more info than you ever wanted to know about a particular artist, get lists such as the most popular artists, and get user recommendations and ratings, to name a few. There’s also an easy-to-integrate Flash video player to let you embed [...] (translate)
Cubic Bezier 4-point Interpolation Part II
I finished the basic version of the demo, but it’s evident that several aspects require some discussion. I don’t have time for a full TechNote, so I’ll go over each issue in a separate blog post. This will make it a lot easier to understand the code. To review, the problem is as follows. Given four [...] (translate)
